Turning data into valuable information

There are many elements in building Loyalty that are critical to success. Some of these include a compelling business model, offering something of value, building trust and more. One of the key ideas that is often seen as the holy grail in Loyalty is data. There are terabytes of data available with so much of it sitting idle because companies don’t know what to do with it. Turning data into information, and actionable information at that, is the difference between a successful Loyalty program and an also ran. (more…)

The value of networking

I’ve been thinking a lot about networking lately as I try to reconnect with friends and colleagues from the past and meet new people in the industry. There are associations, networking events, conferences and online tools such as LinkedIn (a particular favorite of mine). I’ve added about 100 contacts to my LinkedIn account in just the past month through a bit of effort reaching out to lots of people. Watch out Valassis

Now that I’m back from vacation and well rested, it’s time to get back to all things Loyalty. While it’s summer and there aren’t a lot of new things going on, there was an announcement recently about a new service being launched by AOL. Whatever your opinion and experience with them, they still have tremendous reach and are owned by Time Warner so are a power to be reckoned with. I’m not sure Valassis is worried yet but I’m sure they’re paying attention to this.
